Growth Scan (24wks and onwards)

This is not a detailed scan as the baby is too big at this stage to exclude major abnormalities. However, this scan gives ongoing information about the growth and development of your baby. Various measurements are made to assess the growth. The amniotic fluid is checked as well as the position of the placenta (afterbirth). As well as measuring your baby, it is also possible to assess the wellbeing of your baby by watching its movement on scan. If you would like to know the sex of the baby, this can be done at this stage, however it is still only 98% accurate!
